Help a border-line agoraphobic prepare for a (short) road trip?

serviced flat short

Long story short:
I’m going on a short road trip (a couple hours from home) by myself to a national park. Always have a fear of something bad going to happen specifically things like what if my car breaks down? or what if I get a flat tire? What do I do? I’ve (fortunately) never had to deal with any of these situations and I’m not sure what I would do.

I won’t be able to contact any one I know, but I do have roadside service (AAA) which I guess if I need any help car wise I could always call them right? I just really worry about not knowing what to do if I run in to trouble.

Would you recommend anything specific I know how to do before heading out? I’m thinking stuff like “Know how to change a flat tire” (which I don’t know how!) or anything else.

I’d really appreciate any advice. It would certainly help put my mind at a little bit of ease.

Take a cell phone. Also take a gallon or water in case the car overheats. Check the oil and fluids before you leave. Have fun.

Change your tyre at home, so you will know how.

There are spray cans of sealant for punctures, from auto accessory shops, or auto sections of Kmart, etc.

Ensure your cell/mobile phone is fully charged, or have a spare battery, and/or phone (I keep a cheap pre-paid, too, often stored separately).

Ensure the vehicle is ready, and fuelled. Have a checklist; use it.
